The company was awarded the contract to build the new sports hall at Beaminster School in Dorset and, following the turf cutting ceremony by Sir James Spicer, the former MP for West Dorset, work started immediately to ensure completion by the start of the school year.
The building provided a large sports hall, suitable for all indoor games, together with changing rooms and shower facilities. It was constructed using a steel portal frame with traditional masonry on the front elevation and composite sheeting for the remaining elevations and the roof covering. The building was completed on time to the full satisfaction of Dorset County Council and the governors of Beaminster School.
Due to the success of the Beaminster project, Acheson was immediately awarded a negotiated contract to deliver a similar sports facility at Parkstone Grammar School which has been equally successful.
Acheson has carried out construction work for educational establishments throughout Dorset and the surrounding Counties, including the construction of a new Infants School in Weymouth.
