Meryton Place Care Home, Keynsham

Acheson have completed the construction of Meryton Place Care Home, a stunning 78-bed home in Keynsham for healthcare provider Hamberley, developers of luxury care and retirement accommodation for the elderly.

This fantastic project involved the design and construction of a high-quality, three storey home along Pixash Lane with an approx. GIA of 4,230m². The building design is being divided into smaller scale houses and a mix of materials and fenestration detailing were used to provide subtle variation along the elevations.

The accommodation provided over three floors includes much needed second floor accommodation within the roof space. Exterior facades include a mix of grey slate concrete and terracotta clay roof tiles, white render, buff facing and multi red brickwork. Careful design consideration has been taken to ensure both an operational layout providing the necessary accommodation needed for the home to operate whilst ensuring that it sits comfortably within the surrounding area.

The design of this home involved elements to assist in offering high level social care and creating a dementia friendly environment. This includes; an obvious entrance with clear way finding throughout, discrete staff servicing area, staggered bedroom doors, multiple day-spaces, destinations provided at the ends of corridors, low-level cills to allow views out from a seated or lying position and an assisted bathroom to each care group.

Associated highways infrastructure, cycle store, parking and landscaping are also included in this important contract.
