Aurum Green, Chineham

Aurum Green is a high-quality housing development in Chineham, Basingstoke, Hampshire. The residential project of 130 dwellings consists of 2-bedroom apartments to 5-bedroom executive detached houses. The homes are for Housing Association, both rental and shared ownership and for private speculative sale.

Each property was delivered to a very high standard with strict quality control maintained throughout the programme in order to deliver to the clients expectations. Modern in design with a light and airy feel, the homes boast a practical living space created using quality materials.

External construction of the homes is masonry construction consisting of face brickwork; blockwork to receive specialist through colour render systems with some cladding detailing. Ventilated beam and block ground floors were used with a combination of widespan precast intermediate floors for the apartments and structurally engineered timber joist flooring systems for the houses. Pitched roofs with predominantly clay tiles ventilated via eaves ventilation and specialist breather membranes; some areas of flat roofing using single ply membranes.

Internal construction consists of a combination of masonry blockwork walls and timber stud partitioning; plasterboard ceilings and walls using both skim plaster and drylining techniques. Gas fired central heating and dependent on the size of individual properties both combination boilers and pressurised central heating systems were used.

Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems were employed throughout which not only improved the energy performance of the properties but negated the need for window trickle ventilation. This had the added benefit of reducing external noise pollution as the development is close to a railway line.

The finishing's were predominantly emulsion to walls and ceilings with painted skirtings and architraves, softwood and hardwood staircases were both painted and stained. Luxury sanitary ware and kitchens were fitted throughout and the floor coverings were a combination of ceramic tiled, carpets and laminate floors.

External works consisted of both hard, soft and planted landscaping to individual properties and communal areas. Estate roads, drainage and public open spaces were constructed for adoption by both Local and Statutory Authorities.

Acheson worked closely with Rund Partnership (Construction Consultants) to deliver the remaining 50 units of this quality development on behalf of PAL Properties.
