The new Southern Co-op convenience store serves the 800 new-build homes on the Abbotswood development as well as the existing homes adjacent to the 52-hectare site.
The convenience store forms part of the Abbotswood village centre which also includes a public house, community centre, doctor's surgery, day nursey and retail units. Acheson negotiated the design and construction of the convenience store with our client Perbury Group who own the land upon which the village centre will be developed. The convenience store is one of a number of projects Acheson have secured through Perbury including residential developments at Ampfield, Andover and Salisbury.
Acheson also successfully delivered the Abbotswood community centre managed by the Abbotswood Community Association. The Southern Co-op selected the association as their fundraising partners, this was a real boost for the association which is run as a charity entirely by volunteers. The community centre has seen many fundraising and social events providing a community hub for local people to come together.
