Dorset Museum Success Celebrated at Bovington
The 10th Dorset Tourism Awards celebrating tourism businesses and attractions across the county saw Acheson client Dorset Museum pick up three prestigious awards.
These included; Gold for Accessible & Inclusive Tourism, Silver for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, and Bronze for Business Events Venue of the Year. Taste, the Museums in-house café was awarded Silver for café/tearoom of the Year.
Since completion of the new building and their reopening in May 21, Dorset Museum has delivered a fantastic programme of events to welcome back the local public and wider community. A number of exhibitions, one of which being ‘I Grew Up 80s’ has attracted record numbers in 2023. Various successful learning programmes, their popular events hire continues to thrive and the continued monumental efforts of their hardworking staff and supporters have all contributed to the success of this vibrant community building.
The awards were held at The Tank Museum in Bovington, another client of Acheson who have just celebrated their 100th birthday. The Dorchester team delivered their new Vehicle Restoration Building which was opened in 2009 by HRH Princess Anne. Since then, the Museum has increased its public access allowing their fantastic collection of tanks and other wartime machinery to be accessible to the public - all boosted by a series of exciting events and open days.
Acheson are very proud to have delivered two fantastic local projects that will preserve important heritage pieces of all backgrounds, shapes and sizes for decades to come.
