PC achieved at Poole Grammar School
The new state of the art sports facility at Poole Grammar School achieved practical completion recently. Following a plan to develop the site, Acheson Construction were awarded the contract to replace the existing double gymnasium with a steel framed, fully accessible, double height sports hall.
With a total gross internal floor area of 2110m2 and including changing facilities, a fitness studio and classrooms, this two-storey building is now large enough to cater for the schools impressive P.E curriculum allowing them to continue its delivery of quality sports subjects.
Project Manager Ian Surcouf of Acheson Construction handed the keys to Jonathan Stiby, Bursar at Poole Grammar. He said:
“Acheson are immensely proud to have delivered such an important project for Poole Grammar and look forward to seeing the facility put to good use allowing the school to further develop their future sports curriculum”.
With the successful completion of this fantastic new facility, Jonathan Stiby marks his retirement having spent the last 14 years at the school. Jonathan has been the project lead and seen it through from inception to completion and had this to say:
‘’This project has been 10 years in the making and I am so proud of it, my dream has been made. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you all, thank you so much for all your hard work’’.
Headteacher Dr Amanda Smith who has also been heavily involved in the project planning and delivery commented:
‘’It was a really difficult decision to choose a contractor for this project and we are so glad we chose Acheson, all of you have been brilliant. We are looking forward to the students coming back, there has been a lot of buzz on social media, and I think it is all sinking in that they are getting such a wonderful new sports hall’’.
A grand opening to include staff, students and parents will be planned later in the year.
