Acheson were awarded the contract to design and construct a new community hall facility on behalf of the consortium of house builders including Taylor Wimpey, Bellway and Bovis who are constructing new homes on the Abbotswood development. Abbotswood is a new 52-hectare building development with 800 new homes and village centre comprising, a public house, convenience store, doctor's surgery, day nursery and community hall.
The community hall formed part of the Section 106 obligation for the consortium of house builders and Acheson were successful following a single stage design and build tender process. The community hall will be the hub of the Abbotswood development and the focal point for local events, clubs and private bookings. The building features an impressive main hall, additional function suites and a range of ancillary support rooms including offices, kitchen, toilets and store rooms.
Externally, the development incorporates a specialist children's playground and external informal play space in addition to dedicated parking.
Acheson were also involved in the design and construction of the convenience store forming part of the Abbotswood village centre.
