The original Sports Pavilion at Hiltingbury was constructed circa 1950. Having last been refurbished in 2008, Acheson were thrilled to be awarded the contract to partially demolish, refurbishment and extend this important community facility.
The new pavilion provides an enclosed sports hall, fitness studio, entrance hall and changing facilities. Part of the existing building was demolished and the retained areas extended to three sides. The size of the extension was determined by the requirement to accommodate four indoor badminton courts which can also be utilised as indoor five-a-side soccer courts. Further sports offered at this excellent new facility include; Netball, Basketball, Volleyball and Tennis.
The original building with its differencing levels and limited space created access issues for disabled visitors. The new design overcame these obstacles by providing larger, more welcoming entrance area together with a new platform lift and by retaining the lift to the first floor.
This was an ideal opportunity for Chandlers Ford Parish Council to create a modern, purpose-built and much-needed multi use sports facility for the local community.
