Somerset’s first zero carbon home
Acheson in conjunction with developer ZeroC are pleased to unveil the completion of Somerset’s first zero carbon home on the Glove Factory site in Yeovil.
The Glove Factory development consists of 37 residential units built to varying levels of sustainability together with work suites and retail units. One dwelling on site will achieve Code for Sustainable Homes level 6 which constitutes a zero-carbon rating.
The design for this unit uses a modern method construction called Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) and includes the following features: -
■ Super insulation
■ Solar Photovoltaic 4.5 kW array
■ Triple glazed windows
■ High air-tightness
■ Low energy lighting
■ Biomass heating & hot water
■ Mechanical ventilation & heat recovery
■ Greywater recycling
■ Flexible accommodation.
