Lifting the Yetminster Wagon into the new Museum
Back in July, two of Dorset Museums most important artefacts were safely moved to their new home. The 108 year old Yetminster Box Wagon, and recently conserved painting of the Bond Family who owned Tynham House one of Purbecks finest country houses. These items of historic importance had to be delicately lifted into position due to their size and weight, they are extremely fragile and have been carefully conserved to reveal details and finishes that have been hidden for many years. The conservation process has revealed intricate detail and original colouring of the Bond family and the stunning decoration and craftsmanship of the Box Wagon. The moving process was a very delicate operation with months of careful planning and gained a lot of interest within the local community.
